I used to be a Child
I used to be a Child
I used to like playing outside, then I started worrying about the dirt.
I used to hate writing until I realized I could write whatever I wished.
I used to be comfortable with my body, then I started reading magazines.
Hanging out with family was great, then mine broke apart.
School was fun until I started having six hours of homework.
My mom was my best friend, then I became a teenager.
I used to think crying over boys was dumb until I had my first boyfriend.
I used to think teachers were against me until I met one that changed my life.
I used to think people were all different, then I talked to them.
I used to love the rain until I thought of those without homes.
I used to be angry with my mom until I met a boy whose parents hit him.
I used to think everything was fair, then I realized it wasn’t.
I used to be a child and then I grew up
What’s one thing I would change?
I would allow kids to lose their innocence when they pleased,
Not when others felt it was time
