I Used To Know A Girl

I used to know a girl

Back in the day

Her big brown eyes and soft sweet sighs are the reason I stayed

It didn’t take long

Before she became my world

I was entranced in her presence, consumed by her beauty

Damn I love that girl…

Two love birds, both wanting to fly away

Only my wings were weak, broken and meek

So I was forced to stay

She was so free, more than I could ever be

Her spirit was on fire, burning with desire

Dying to leave

I wasn’t ready to lose her; it broke my heart to see her go

Billions of people but she was the soul that my heart chose

Every now and then

I see her flying in the sky

With her wings spread wide and her beautiful smile

What a gorgeous sight

Oh I used to know a girl...

Back in the day...

She still held my heart -

When she flew away…
