I Used To Listen

When Momma told me not to do something, I used to listen.

I had been conditioned.

Conditioned to take the words she spoke as law and ignore my own supposibly inferior intuition.

Nowadays, all I need is my own permission to make decisions.

The light that was once dim inside me is now all I see as I pave my path to victory.

I used to listen, but now I'm free.
