I Waited
I loved you, but you did not love me,
I felt for you, but you did not feel for me,
I cared for you, but you did not care for me.
Who am I? I consider myself your friend.
But you do not consider me as a friend.
I am the one that never left you,
I am the one that you could always count on,
I was there for you, to catch you when you fell,
I waited for you everyday, but you did not wait for me,
I watched for you, but you did not come.
I thought of you every day, but you did not think of me.
I held my tongue when I was angry, but you did not hold yours.
I was always there, watching, waiting, never loosing hope.
Where has all of that gotten me?
Here, hurt, hopeless, broken.
This poor heart of mine can’t take it anymore.
Tonight, I shall break free,
Free from this bondage of “first love” that did not serve me well
You let me down, you broke my heart,
You dropped me off in the middle of nowhere,
Never to return.
My prince charming, what a lie!
Now I’m blinded by my pain and hurt.
What more is there to come of this misery?
I’m hurt, I was abandoned, and tonight, I shall break free.
This first love that I must say goodbye to,
No one said it wouldn’t be difficult.
I shall think that I might miss you deeply,
But will you miss me?
No, I think not, so I shall not have a single thought of you,
For the rest of my days.
My life shall be lived out with my true prince charming,
Who shall one day find me.
This man, whom I do not know at the present time,
Shall ride in shouting, “love is here.”
And this is whom I will wait out my days for.
Not wasting a single ounce more of my love on you.
I shall save all of what I have to offer,
For my knight in shining armor.
For I loved you, but you did not love me.
