I Want To Believe

You created us all in your image
but are we really as perfect as you?
You tried and you tried and you tried so hard
But in the end, we are not what you want
Gay and straight and lesbian we are too
We are who we are you can not stop us.

I do not mean the spirit you are, but
the hate-filled people who follow your heart
They mistranslate and use the bible as
a weapon to change people’s hearts and minds.

But I am who I am; I cannot change
as bisexual as the sun and rain
I just am; you cannot change who I am

Your people, they are being led astray
I was always too afraid to say it
because I did not want the hate from them
The anger and the hate flow deep from them.

Hate the sin but love the sinner they say
To me, that is a copout to avoid the truth
Jesus, he was all about loving us.
He would never have wanted this.

I refuse to believe that he hates me
I refuse to believe that I will go to hell
I want to believe that I am with love.

AmaraTheWarrior

Hello, my name is Anne-Marie. Welcome to my profile. I like to think of myself as a writer and advocate for mental health and invisible illnesses. Part of me struggles with my faith on a daily basis because of my sexual orientation. So a lot of my poetry is about coping with that and my health on a day-to-day basis. I don't define myself with my sexual orientation or my health struggles but they are a part of me; there's no denying that. I love to write dark science fiction about dystopic futuristic landscapes. I like to write strong female leads with a lot of emotion and feeling to them. I truly live, breathe, and enjoy writing. Thank you for reading this
