I Want to Glow

I can walk

Eyes are blown wide open

The world is a new place

Smiles are the perfect constant

Right foot, left foot

Eyes and attention are all on me

Suffocating on love

I’m the special one

Not a worry in the world

Right foot, left foot

I can shine

As goofy as I can be

Tooth gaps as far as the eyes can be

A feeling warmer than the sun

Learning, smiling

This cheshire grin holds no malice

Those clumsy twinkle toes cannot stop

Brain is filled with amazing thoughts

Learning, smiling

I can do things correctly

That’s what I’m supposed to do

Those around me are perfect

I should follow suit

Don’t mess up

Congratulation aren’t needed

Being the best is important

Smile and continue on

Don’t let them see you struggle

Don’t mess up

I can worry

My future is hard to see

My eyes are covered with cloth

I’m being watched without watching

I’m so tired

I know I’m falling behind

I have little motivation

Is this what static feels like

I’m clinging to my last ember of hope

I’m so tired

I can be anxious

The next part of my life is coming

If I could go back and plan better I would

But did I truly plan at all?

My heart is so fast

Right before bed I panic with thoughts running through my head

Will I be fine on my own?

Breath, make more plans while I can

My panics are short lived, right?

My heart is so fast

I can hope

I know life is uncertain

I am positive everything will change

I’m not backing down

I can look back on the things that I’ve done and be proud

I want to be that positive girl again

The one that glows and keeps moving

But I’m also the ones with insecurities

These girls are me and I am them

I’ve come to accept them

As they have I

Together they give me a new potential glow
