I wanted to grow up
I wanted to grow up.
When I grow up I wanna be like my grandma.
When I saw her prepare all the corn and raspado to go sell the next day in the streets of California.
I deliberately waited to grow up and be like her .
A strong woman of faith and integrity.
As time passed, my brother got in trouble with the law.
I wanted to grow up and become a lawyer.
To help those that have to navigate the legal system.
As an adult I see all the strength and love my mother has.
I wanted to grow up and be like her
Being a grown up I have to get a job.
Being a grown up I have to go get an education.
Being a grown up I have to become stronger and take every day as it comes.
Being a grown up I have deadlines.
Being a grown up is having a heart of a child.
Being a grown up is keeping the memories.
Being a grown up is remembering what I wanted to be.
Being a grown up is having dreams and making it a reality.
