I Wanted You

All it took was one kiss

For me to know

It was goodbye

You said I wouldn't miss you

You said I was better off

But anyone that's ever loved anyone

Knows what words like that really mean

They know

To read between

You didn't care

You weren't there

And then you walked away

With my heart

I had no say

No choice in the matter

You said I did

But we both know

You were already gone

Before thre words had even left

Your sweet lips

You were long gone

And I knew it was over

Because that's the way

This game

Was gonna end

You were a train going off the rails

Whether I wanted to save you or not

I'll never forget those words

You said to me

As you kissed my forehead

It was just way too easy

For you to walk away

When you knew

How much I loved you

Needed you there

How much I cried

For you to care

And all you gave me

Was more tears

More questions

As you walked away

So I say goodbye

One more time

Into an empty night

A night that stands still

Now that you're gone

Far away from me now

Where you are

I'll probably never know

And maybe it's better that way

Maybe

Just maybe

You were also right

When you said

I deserved more

But the funny thing is

I didn't want more

I wanted you
