I was...

I was a kid

I sat on a blue rug in my class every day

I was a kid

I had to respond to my teacher when they said "hey"

I was a kid

I worried about being able to read a book

I was a kid

I was afraid if given a dirty look

I grew up some, but still I was young

I was a teen

I despised my school

I was a teen

I was sure a fool

I was a teen

I decided not to try

I was a teen

I said goodbye to junior high

I turned older as my life kept getting colder

I was blind

I chose not to see the whole picture

I was blind

I was in a world that kept getting stricter

I was blind

I had no thought about my future

I was blind

I hadn't realized about this failure, of which I was the producer

I opened my eyes, reflected on my youth, and I was surprised

I am an adult

I must open my eyes, unless I want to be serving fries

I am an adult

I shall not be a fool, for that is no longer cool

I am an adult

I am no longer a child, and for that reason I can no longer be wild

I am an adult and I must face my problems head-on

I am an now an adult and I will face everything that gets in my way

I am an adult!
