I Was Clueless Until You
I did not know how clueless I truly was,
Until I met you, and felt what real love does.
You helped me to see that I am enough,
That I could let down my guard and not act so tough.
We talk about everything, the good and the bad,
And you are always my go to person when I am feeling sad.
You continually remind me that I can do anything I put my mind to,
And give me a gentle nudge, when I’m afraid of trying something new.
One minute we laugh together about silly little things,
And the next, we share deep thoughts of what we hope our future brings.
Do we disagree at times about how something should be done? You bet.
But we seek to understand each other until a compromise is met.
I never doubt how much you value what we share,
Because you show me in so many ways that you care.
From little things like bringing me a coffee when you know I’m feeling rough,
To being by my side holding my hand, on days that are really, really tough.
I thought I knew what love was before you came into my life,
But my past experiences were filled with strife.
I would always blame myself and say I needed to change,
But you came into my life and thought that perception was strange.
Because of you, my view of a healthy loving relationship is new.
You would never do anything to intentionally make me blue.
At the heart of what makes us last, is something I had never felt before,
And that is the undeniable trust in you that I feel down to my core.
