Just a few drinks they said
You’re not that drunk
You can totally drive they said
It’s okay.

It was a horrific crash they told me
It totaled the car
I will never drive again they told me
Not with these injuries.

I never saw the caution sign I told the judge
Safety wasn’t on my mind that night,
It seemed okay I told the judge.
The rescue teams orange vests are the last thing I remember.

I thought it would be fine
I didn’t think I was that drunk.
I thought I I was in good shape,
I think I thought wrong.

Now my car is gone
Now my leg is gone
Now my career is gone
I’m lucky it wasn’t my life.
