I was once

I was once happy and glad, But now I am sad and desperate. I was once young and strong, But now I am old and stubborn. I was once good and honest, But now I am terrible and guilty. I was once caring and loving, But now I am cold and cruel. I was once learning and understanding, But now I am unteachable and ignorant. I was once accepting and trusting, But now I am denied and untrustworthy. I was once a boy with dreams, But now I am man that is dreamless.
