I Was Pissed When I Wrote This

You say we're not racing to the finish line

That every day we're moving between mountains

Annd you're wrong on both counts

My life is a cross country run

Not a sprint

And certainly there is no relay happening here

And you may be moving between mountains

But I'm the one going over them

Crossing that great divide

So that the others know what's there

And this time I've spent

Praying for the light at the end of a tunnel

That's filling with gas

Knowing it's killing me the same way it killed

Everyone who came before

And you keep telling me

I'm making mountains out of molehills

Tell that to everyone who came before

You keep telling me

That the hurricane that is my life

Disturbs the eye of your storm

Tell that to the person

That cries alone too frequently

That works alone too often

Tell that to the person you'll be

When I'm not here anymore

To fix everything that goes wrong

To move the mountains for you

So that you have a safe path to walk
