I Was There
I was there when it happenedI was there when You were whippedI was there when You were slappedI was there when You were spat atI was there when You were mockedI was there when You were nailed to that crossI was there when all this was done
For it was I who did itI whipped YouI slapped YouI spat at YouI mocked YouI nailed You to that cross
With all my sinsI tortured You to deathYou knew it would happenBut You kept goingBecause You love me
And I was also thereWhen You roseFor You rose in meAnd I rose with YouYou gave me new lifeSo now I live for YouI was there
For it was I who did itI whipped YouI slapped YouI spat at YouI mocked YouI nailed You to that cross
With all my sinsI tortured You to deathYou knew it would happenBut You kept goingBecause You love me
And I was also thereWhen You roseFor You rose in meAnd I rose with YouYou gave me new lifeSo now I live for YouI was there
