I Watched

I sat along the fireside, and watched. I watched the flames flicker fiercely. I watched the smoke climb higher. I watched the silky sky loose light. I watched the moon rise above the trees. I sat in the inky darkness, and watched. I watched the wind and water waltz. I watched the faint stars breath. I watched the clouds creep closer. I watched the moon dip behind the trees. I sat in the unforgiving daylight, and watched. I watched the sunshine scorch my skin. I watched the Earth’s star cross the sky. I watched the colors crusade courageously. I watched the sun sink below the trees. I sat alone with myself, and watched. I watched defeat deteriorate determination. I watched failure become the norm. I watched hopelessness hover and hound. I watched my moon and sun disappear.
