I Will

"Shhh, be quiet.

Do not think they would understand.

Here it is safe, warm, comforting.

"Out there, it is dangerous and cruel.

All eyes on you,

An outcast, a freak, a pariah."

"But...

"To not understand the people in this world is human

To judge before knowing is woven in our genes,

So I will be forgiving.

"To show the world only one side of me is to live a lie

To hide part of myself from this place called home is to run from freedom,

So I will show them truth.

"I will be me and only me;

I am proud of who I am.

"If the world cannot accept me,

Well, I will have done what I can."
