I will because I am
The acceptance of college applications,
the stress of time,
the anxiety of perfection.
The lack of money,
the desire for success,
to make the previous generation
proud of their daughter.
The words that brought pain and despair,
"You can't do it, you're not good enough.''
"How will you be a nurse with that GPA?"
It's a story not finished.
The lies of happily ever afters, the pursuit of happiness,
the lies of there are no such things as happy endings...
Tell that to my journey, add it to my story.
I'm not finished yet.
There's more to me than my grades, my test scores, and my essays.
I'm a daughter of a king with a true dream.
To help others and produce joy and laughter.
I am a daughter that will succeed.
Not through the works of what education or the world identifies to be successful.
No.
The perserverance of one girl who has faced struggles, fear,
and the desire to be accepted. The girl who still smiles.
From cancer to deaths, to injuries to failures, to successes and accomplishments.
She's not done yet.
She has a dream.
She has goals.
Accepted by her family for who she is.
To be loved and proud of.
To be accepted into a College and pursue a dream to help others.
Money should never restrict ones dreams.
Yet the simplistic mind of humanity created a barrier of dollar signs.
I will make it over the barrier.
I will reach success.
No matter what it takes.
The hike is long but the view will be glorious.
Through the valley.
The shadow of death will not frighten me, but it will encourage me to overcome
the valley.
I will.
I know.
I know I will.
I will because I am.
