I will fly...
I am spreading my wings, I'm taking off;
Defying all those who used to scoff
at my childish whims and fantasies
that a flightless bird like me could glide over the seas.
But I refuse to believe what they say,
refuse to listen and refuse to play
according to the rules they've set for me
I will fly for sure, believe me!
So, you may laugh or you may scorn
but I refuse to believe I was born
a bird without wings; a child without thought;
I am going after the dream I've sought.
The strength you refuse to lend to me,
within myself, it will surely be,
for I am not a bird who cannot soar,
it is just that my wings, you've chosen to ignore.
I will take flight for sure today,
and make you rue every single day,
you mocked me and scorned me for dreaming high
for now I will fly to the top pf the sky.
And standing on the precipice, my short wings sticking out,
waddling to the front as you begin to shout
'Don't make that jump, you cannot fly,
those wings are not for gliding across the sky.
'Dont be stupid dear, use your common sense.
You can't fly, dont you understand?'
You know that your words I will no longer bear,
for I know that you dont actually care,
I know that the concern is just a facade,
then why do you pretend you have any regard
for whether I fly or die today
you would probably prefer the latter any given day.
But no matter what you try to say
I WILL FLY TODAY!
