I Will Miss This
I’ll miss waking up
The way the sun glows between the window blinds
The early morning stillness before the world becomes too loud
I’ll miss peppermint hot chocolate and warm, heavy blankets, and sticky, fluffy marshmallows
And the little swirls of steam that swim on the surface of ginger-green tea
I’ll miss reading too many books and never having enough time to read all the books I want to
And the little paper cuts I get on my thumb from turning the pages too fast
I’ll miss pretzels dipped in peanut butter and peanut butter covered in chocolate
I’ll miss the metallic-y aroma of ozone before it rains
And the freshly washed shimmer of the grass after the storm
I’ll miss laughing so much that my face cramps and my stomach curls
I’ll miss how my dog fall asleep on my feet at night and drools on my socks
I’ll miss eating ice cream from the carton eating popcorn by the bag
I’ll miss carving silly faces into wide, orange pumpkin during the fall
And I’ll miss the buzz of fat, lazy bumblebees in the spring
I’ll miss listening to David Bowie and “Moonage Daydream” on repeat
Humming the melody and silently mouthing the all the words
I’ll miss staying up too late to finish one more chapter or to watch one more Friends rerun
I’ll miss being there from day to day
