I will not Break
Dear Thing That Creeps Up My Back,
The Thing That Holds Me Back,
The Thing That Makes Me Crack,
You have not broken me yet.
As I lay here tangled in your grip once again I am reminded of all the things you have taken from me.
The thief of life.
All the parties I have missed.
The boys I should have kissed.
And the joy that cannot exist.
You have not broken me yet.
I know fondly of your weight in my chest and the way you manipulate me into hiding.
The feeling you get when you are falling and you’re just about to hit the ground...
That feeling consumes me
I hate you.
I hate your name
The claim you stake on me
And the flame that you burn out inside me day after day.
You have not broken me yet.
Because while you are strong, anxiety
I am stronger.
And I will not break
