I Wish

I wish I was unseen.

I wish people did not observe me.

I wish people would stop trying to analyse me.

I wish people would stop misunderstanding me.

I wish they all would stop,

Stop trying to put meaning into what does not matter,

Stop trying to put all these beliefs on me,

Stop telling me how to exist,

I don't want to be perceived.

Because what if they perceive me

As a failure,

As a mistake,

As a disappointment.

What if i start perceiving myself

As a failure?

As a mistake?

As a disappointment?

What if I start seeing myself like others see me?

I wish people would just see me as a person

With failures,

With mistakes,

With disappointments.

But instead those define me.

I am so much more.

Can they not see?

I feel as if i am on a stage,

With the spotlight shining me in my eyes.

Loads of interested eyes,

On me,

On my body,

On my decisions.

But they are all trying to figure me out.

They are looking at me

As if I am an abstract piece of art.

They don't understand what, why, how.

And some people might value that,

But I am a person.

They don't need to understand what, why, how.

They just need to accept me

As a human,

As a person,

As a daughter,

As a student,

As a friend

I want to be unseen.
