I wish I had you

I wish I had you when I was going through the process

The process of changing and applying to make my life better

At the time, I was changing, you weren't there

I felt alone and lost but knew deep down I still needed you

I didn't know who you were and who you would become

But I yearned for your guidance, your patience, your knowledge, and your wisdom

Though I made it... even without you 

I somehow,  still wish I would of had you

You would of taught me more of what I now know

You would of helped me avoid those headaches and confusions

But now I understand why I didn't have you

I didn't have you because one day you became the person I once needed for someone else

You began to guide them, teach them, inspire them, and help them

And in the end, you will know that you helped me and I will know that I am glad that I didn't have you

Because I grew through during that time and became the person that I who I once needed

But because of that, I'm glad I didn't have you
