I woke up like this

I woke up flawless, as I do, each and every day

face mask on, tea in hand, in bed with my hair astray

Oh Naturale! Simply a plain face, and curves resting on my hips

I admire each aspect of myself, down to the words that roll from my lips

Off to class! I  scurry to the vanity where I rush to perfect my face

I paint it like a mural, with each eyelash stiff in place

So many imperfections to cover, and I do it all with ease

for I have practiced many times with each eyelash curl and tweeze

Before I left I threw on my clothes and looked at the mirror once more

to realize my perfected face was just as flawless as my bare one before

So I wiped off my makeup, went through the day and disregarded the judgemental chatters

because I am flawless on the inside, and that is all that truly matters
