I Woke Up Like This

Confidence like Beyonce, every single day

Bare face, brown eyes

Crooked smile on full display

Mayfair, Walden, Kelvin?

Even Inkwell couldn't filter this color away

Transparent like glass,

but stronger than steel.

First in my class,

there's no need to filter that.

My mind runs wild,

while my fingers dance around

They said don't you worry child,

speak from the heart.

So I freed my soul and spoke with no filters.

Whether it'll give me thousands of likes or none at all,

I won't care because that's just me.

No make-up, hair messy, heading to the mall,

but first, let me take a selfie.

I'm more than thousands of pixels on your screen.

I'm more than 240 characters in a caption.

Where I began and where I'll be,

you can't get that from a distorted picture of me.

Say rude things,

make a meme with my picture.

Do whatever you want,

because you'll never be able to filter me.
