I woke up that morning
I woke up that morning feeling good.
“Today was going to go to be a great day,” is what I told myself.
I was so wrong.
At school everyone was avoiding me. I felt lonely that day. My heart was broken. The day I felt I was going to be happy, I was lonely. Everyone was snappy with me, and it was hurting my soul.
I stood in the lunch line patiently waiting. My stomach growled again.
“Shh, we are almost there,” I whispered.
I saw Kimberly, a girl in my class, approaching me.
Her face red with what looked like anger. Her hand in a fist at her side. I was clutching my nose before I knew it.
“I hate you!”
Ignoring my growling stomach I ran
into a bathroom.
Kimberly was my best friend.
Well not anymore.
She hated me.
I cried.
My heart was broken. I did not understand why Kimberly was mad.
It was hard for me to think because of the pain in my face.
My nose was in pain. Deep in my stomach I felt my heart was being digested.
I wanted to go home. Being in my mother’s warm presence was what I wanted.
Not an ex- best friend that hated me.
During my last class of the day my mom came to pick me up. She and I drove home in silence.
It was strange not
talking,
laughing,
or arguing
with my mother in the car. I was worried about what my dad would think about me getting punched in the face.
I had to escape from all my emotional troubles. My head was spinning because of it.
I closed my eyes. The vibrations of the car rocking me to sleep.
The next day I asked her why she was mad at me. I got no response. She just kept walking away from me.
Was it something that I said?
Was it something that I did?
Did I do something the last time we had a sleep over?
I don’t know. I did not understand
why she was mad at me.
Why
was
she mad
at
me?
