I Would Cry Too
Privet Baba, I miss you
And the long conversations we had
About nature, the universe
All of its good and the bad
If you were still alive
I’d ask you about rain
And tell you about this adventure I had
That is really insane
I sat by my window, gazing out at the rain
Admiring the beauty of nature’s natural terrain
I simply didn’t understand why others thought rain was bad weather
And stayed indoors waiting for the forecast to get “better”
I, for one, prefer walking outside
Trying to discover, why the Earth needs to cry
I think all would agree, our planet’s a phenomenal place
Filled with laughter, and joy, and thriving and grace
So I walked along the sidewalk, with my question in mind
Deciding to take a walk and see what I find
By the playground I saw the kids from my grade
With cute little green raincoats; in the puddles they played
I looked past the park, wondering how they didn’t see
That there’s a huge field with a sign: “CEMETERY”
I skipped towards a girl who stood there and cried
Explaining to me, that her parents had died
I took a step back and felt extremely bad
I couldn’t imagine a world without my mom or dad
Then I looked around the field, and saw many others
Who had probably also lost someone, a friend, a brother
I asked the poor girl, why they were dead
“They were shot” she states, her voice filled with dread
As I continued to walk, a slow depressing pace
I realized that wasn’t the only time a murder took place
There’s also kidnapping, drunk driving, rape, and shootings
child abuse, lying, forgery, and lootings
All of these crimes that I had begun to discover
made me see, people weren’t angels; the thought made me shudder
No, the world’s not all bad, but we must learn how to love
Even our home was forced to send us signs from above
I realize now, that Earth’s mistreated and abused
If I was the Earth, I would cry too
