I Would Tell You

I reached for you

For so long

I stood there

Like a stone

I held your hand

You knew you weren't alone

But maybe

There is never enough words

To erase the hurt

The wounds that run deeper

Then a river

Maybe

This couldn't have ended

Any other way

But I stayed

I stood by your side

Until the last breath

You got lost

In the dark

Of your own broken heart

You had so many scars

And I kissed each one

Every night

I stayed by your side

I held your hand

Begged you not to hide

No need

To bleed

For old wounds

But you

You heard nothing

Saw nothing

But the pain

I will never stop

Asking why

I will never stop

Running in circles

In my head

Running through every word

Ever said

Between us

Anything I could've missed

Didn't see

To know

You were saying goodbye to me

WIthout breathing a word

Just letting go

I wish

I had known

If you were here

Like I want you to be

I would tell you

The rain makes me think of you

I would tell you

It rained the day

You went away

I would tell you

You killed a piece of me

I would tell you

I stood by your side

The entire time

If I had one more moment with you

Just one

I would tell you

It hurts so bad

Because I just wanted so badly

To be the one

You lived for

If I could

I would tell you
