I Write

because I must

because I love it

because I'm clever

because the world needs to hear me.

Because I want the world to hear me.

Yes. No? Maybe.  Because.

Because I have known it since childhood

and it comes as naturally as breathing

Because I love it so much

                   need it so much

that I physically crave the smoothness of a blank page

and the weight of a pencil in my hand

Because out of everything I know

I know it better than the back of my hand

Because to me words are the most powerful

because I have something to say

                                                          observe

                                                          express

                                                          tell the world

and this is the only way I know how.

I write because I must.
