I write

To repair glass vases once full of emotion, broken in my heart

Shards of glass piercing so it bleeds letters

And thoughts

And jumbled up words.

I write because I want to express myself

Not only in these words

But

In their

                                                Shape

                                And

                In

Their

F              o              r              m

I write because these stanzas flow like music in my mind,

Crying and weeping with every line break

For each break is a crack in my soul.

A chink in my armor.

I write to scream out into the darkness

To fill this empty square room with no windows and no doors

No way to escape

To explode through brick walls of restriction and expectation

I write to defy those who said I couldn’t

Who said I couldn’t do anything.

I write

For me.
