I Write
I write,
To hear the crashing of the stormy sea
Against a rocky shore
To capture the sound and the power
Of nature's majestic, defeaning roar
I write,
To feel the ecstasy
Of moments with loved ones shared
To joyful times I give these lines
Of happy tidings declared
I write,
To embrace the sorrow
Of hopes gone up in smoke
Of wasted years and countless tears, spent
Toiling in the dirt
I write,
Of beauty and grace
Of joy and of pride
Of sadness and pain
And the shattered remains
For on this page, within these words of mine
My heart and soul shall forever reside
