I Write

Little children with tiny faces
That have yet to see the terror of the world
And the old with memories
Of all the things they've seen

I remember the day my sister was born
She was my wish come true
But when looking in her tiny face
The words couldn't come to me

I know that others meet this fate
They can't say what they want
And so we write in the shadows
Since that's where our words come out

As humans we grow up and grow apart
No two stories are alike
Yet we find comfort in each other
Because there is love

One day I'll have a little girl
And maybe the words won't come
But they come now so I write down
All of them that I can

I write for the voices never heard
I write for the stories never told
I write for the lovers; the fighting too
And I write it all for you
