I Write...
For the ones who feel alone,
They have no one to talk to
Not even at home.
For the ones who just need a friend,
Maybe the sound of my words can finally
Bring about a grin.
For the ones who just cannot find the words to say
That would explain why although the sun is shining,
All they see is grey.
For the ones who cannot pinpoint how they feel,
They can find the words through my poem,
The emotions are experienced and real.
For the ones who just need an escape,
My words can serve as their superhero,
Just without the cape.
For the ones whose parents told them to just write it all down,
The words they write have the same meaning,
But the pen shouts them out loud.
For the ones who often hear that music is the key to the soul,
This could be true,
Except poetry serves as the peephole.
For the ones who constantly move around,
Whether it’s through the military
Or the right guardians just aren’t found.
For the ones whose hearts were just bound to break,
So they look to poetry as the medicine
To soothe their ache.
For the ones who have made that one mistake,
It follows them around like a ghost,
And rumbles their world like an earthquake.
For the ones who want to bring about change,
Not just for themselves but for others
Without craving the adulation in exchange.
For the ones who strive to run toward their future
But cannot escape their past,
Their path is murky and hinders them like a caste.
For the ones that sit and their rooms and cry, cry, cry,
No one would know that they have experienced pain
Because they hold it all inside.
For the ones that like to stand and think in the shower,
Until someone knocks on the door and says
“Hey! You’ve been in there for an hour!”
For the ones who feel as if all hope is lost
And will do whatever it takes
To make sure they cover the cost.
For the ones who believe in dreams
Because they are still possible
No matter how crazy it may seem.
For the ones who think and act like me,
We won’t stop and can’t stop
Until all goals are achieved.
My poems maybe personal
But I truly believe,
That if I can relate to you, you can relate to me.
