I Write
Writing, scribbling in my notebook or typing in my phone
Constantly writing, getting ideas, whether I'm in a crowd or alone
I've been told my poems are alright
Or maybe I should approach different
Types of expressions because poetry ain't my blessing
But yet when I recite, emotions come pouring out of you that you cant even fight
I admit, I may not be the best but I'm surely not the worst
You seem to have tried to hit me where it should hurt
But you won't catch me slipping, stay with a smile gripping the corners of my face, approaching you with style and grace, I can't even count the numbers of jaws that dropped when I walked in this place
Ok, I can't count the number because there were none
But I had to throw in an element of fun
And that's just me, this is the person I want to be
And I'm still learning exactly who I want to be
So you can hear my trials and tribulations when I write
And I write anything I can type
So, Spoken word is something I've learned
Haiku is a thing I seem to do
Mastering sonnets while putting on my nightly bonnet
And I don't use it that often
Slant rhymes have become a way to pass time
I just love to write
And there are many reasons why
So many reasons, I could go all night
But I'm just gonna name a few if that's alright
I write to inform
Heres the latest topics
I write because I'm not the norm
I'm like the undiscovered bird in the tropics
I write because I'm sad or depressed
I'll write when I'm mad on my mad black woman ish
I write with a fist up for a revolution
Because we need one
I write for better solutions
Because we need them
I write to help my peers
Even though they have earphones in their ears
I write for the ones in Chicago
Funerals seem to be everyday as far as I know
I write for Trayvon, Sean, & Amadou
I write for the murdered black woman that don't even make the news
I write for corrupt politicians and cops
We can't really do nothing but we know who you are
I write for the drug dealers
I know you wanna make six figures but there's other ways my killa
I write for the young black boys that try too hard
The ones that front they a boss but have no job nor a car
I write to tell you something
I write to let you know
I write to tell these young girls
You don't have to dress like a hoe
It's wintertime and you look summertime fine
You don't have to show so much skin
Just let your confidence shine
I write to tell you a story
I'll write when its night, evening, noon or morning
I'll write to tell hip-hop how I feel
Telling her to tell these wack rappers to chill
I'll write when I can't write no more
I'll write to tell those Jehovah's Witnesses STOP COMING TO MY DOOR
You're supposed to spread the word not force it
Like how these young boys begs that girl to abort it
I write because I'm a virgin
Yes I know, I'm rare
I write to tell people I have unpermed, natural hair
Told you I was rare
I write to spread love
And endorse others to do the same
I write because I can
And I want you to remember my name
I write because I will
I'll write to my end
I'll write my own will
I'll write when I'm ill
I'll write before I die
I'll write my God stories while I'm up in the sky
