I write because...

A literature contest

Put me to the test

To show off my skill

By my own free will

I submitted my paper

On "Why people murder"

After the weekand

The results were in

I won!

The contest was done

From that day forward

I put my best foot forward

I began to write

Day and night

My love for poetry began to grow

And my passion began to show

I write because i can

It's like i'm in a fantasy land

I love it

It's perfect

Through poems my feelings are set free

I can finally be me

All my life

I've had to fight

To just be me

A girl whose 17

But when it comes to writing

There is no more fighting

It is peaceful and calm

And nothing i write is wrong

Cuz it's mine

It allows me to fly

And that is why i write.
