I Write Because...
I write because it feels like freedom
It's like I'm the Queen of my own kingdom
Writing seems to give me a chance to stray
From all the madness I've dealt with today
I write because I'm internally screaming
And athough I'm just average at public speaking
When I'm writing I'm louder than Dr. King rhyming about dreaming
More boisterous than Malcolm X's teachings and preaching
I write because it helped me find my smile and maybe one day it might go out of style
But until then I'll be one pen to paper fiending child
With lyrics, rhymes, and versuses to continue for miles
So you ask me why I write and I'll tell you each and every time
I write because it's like healing to the spirit, soul, and mind
I don't do it for the light even if its lime
I write for no one else's sake but mine
