I Write Because...
I write Because...
I write Because...
I write because I can't figure out the answer
I write because it's louder than talking
Something that your brother can't say "Shut up!" to
and I wonder why but then reply between the cries
" I have been told to 'Shut up!' for almost seveteen years,
and you think that if I have not yet you think that I will?"
But still, as the poet once said
"And still I rise."
And still I write
I write because there is no path here
I write because "tis as powerful" as iambic pentameter
I write because I am Shakespeare
but instead of standing there letting the spear shake,
I throw it
I write with words that are as cold as snow
That are as strong as the story that was told by your Nana
but will effect your heart more than an inch
I write with a heart that is as cold as The Grich
I write because it is the equal sign, the answer,
the life saver, but my words are my light saber
My words hold the power to leave you in a trance
And make your voice shake like a teenage girl
in a fitting room saying, "Momma, I can't fit these pants!"
But doesn't recognize the true beauty from her face to her thighs
My words are Black Beauty, they are not white
but they are light
Light skinned like white men that fall in love with a black woman
every now and then
I write because it is a song you hear again and again
My words spread knowledge, joy, and grief
I write because it's Tylenol: Extra Pain Relief
Thank You
