I Write Because I Can
I write because I can
Because this country provides the freedom
To express myself as I please
I write to express myself
To spell out my thoughts and feelings
I would not dare speak aloud
I write to entertain myself
To keep myself busy
On those lonesome days I face
I write because I like the way
Ink stains a white blank page
As my wrist guides a ball point pen
I write to say what I need to say
Because putting my thoughts on paper
Is easier than spoken word
I write to share ideas
To let the world know
That my opinions matter
I write because there is no one,
No power, no man
Who can tell me otherwise
I write becasue I can
