I write to dream, I dream to be somebody
When I grow up I want to be somebody.
These words are not mine to patent, for many wiser,
older conjured them before me.
Dear to these words lay hope and ambition, but often this disposition
is withered by the mediocrity that the author is given.
These words began in the bloom of a child’s innocent dream,
unaffected by the gloom of a soulless society.
Then innocence fades, the gloom does not wane.
And these words turn hollow.
We realise that somebody is just another body
surviving amongst the masses.
I cannot submit to such a reality!
So I hold onto these words, and write my own words
to convince myself that somebody is a body living outside the masses,
to convince myself that somebody is a body who will change the world.
Even if only the world I create.
I write to dream, I dream to be somebody.
