I write to escape

I stay up late thoughts running through my head

I try to speak and wait to be heard

I look all around me and see unfamiliar faces

No one understands my cries

I escape into a world where no one knows my name

Here I can be anyone I want to be

I’m free to be myself

I’m free to live my life and chase my dreams

As the days go by and darkness fades

At the end of the day I’m still me
