I Write to Paint
I've always been a writer, ever since I could write. But poetry just popped up, it snuck into my life. I was in middle school, feeling down in the dumps. I used poetry as a tool to help me get over major humps. Words spoken outloud didn't capture my struggle, so I wrote it all down, and my emotions i continued to smuggle. As I grew older it faded away, those rhyming words saved for another day. And that day came once in class, "Write a poem" the teacher said, I just did as was asked. I rediscovered my love in the patterns of the words. In the sonnets I found peace, in the hikus I found mischief. The poems gave me wings, like that of a bird's. I write to express, to distress, to explore. I write because poems say what I couldn't before. Life is a painting, and poetry my brush. I write to paint, because life gives me a rush.
