IAm.. Strong

I lay on my sisters couch

tears running down my eyes

I remembered how it felt to have a bed

to have a huge blanket promising to keep me warn through the night

I also remembered my  mom pouring bleach down the drain

rebuking every demon that was inside the house

So I laid there in the dark

wondering how I was going to move on

Asking God what can I do to be strong

I lay on my  bestfriends bed

joy filled my face

I finally was able to sleep

No fear crept into the room at night

taunting me with horrible memories

But I still wonder how I'd move on

Asking God what I can do to be strong

I lay in my dorm bed

I'm away from all the pain

But now I have bills I can barely pay

I smile and laugh and walk with my head high

I know I'll get through it

But I still wonder how I'd move on

Asking God what  can do to be strong

Then I realized

God gave me the strength I needed

when I felt I was weak

He carried me through each house with a drive to carry on

I am strong because I kept going

when I didn't see anything ahead of me

I am strong because I'd work thirteen hour shifts

and wake up at four and do it all over again

I am strong because I never gave up on myself

and I never will

As I begin my first year of adulthood

I fear nothing and no one

Because

IAm..Strong

IAm..Strong
