Icarus
I am the breath beneath sigh,
stealing past unknowing lips.
Jailbird.
I am not afraid of being broken.
Feathers break skin.
Tucked in—strapped down—are
wax wings, weak.
I am afraid of being broken,
but more terrifying is the thought
of never
taking
flight.
