Icarus
Icarus had hope.
he had a dream
to fly higher than anyone else.
He wanted to acheive his success.
He wanted to touch the sun!
"You can't do it!" they said.
It pushed him more.
"When they're in doubt,
I'll shock them more."
He saw the glimmer of the sun,
all the lightness
all the hope.
It was his dream,
his goal.
The wings flapped in the wind,
pushing against him.
He flapped harder, and harder,
propelling himself up.
Sweat streaked his face.
"Give up!" they screamed.
"You'll burn!"
He thought they wanted to steal his success,
he flew up to the sun,
higher, hotter
higher, hotter
higher... hotter...
The sun melted his wings.
Falling, failing
falling...
The sea engulfed him,
took him to the muddy depths of failure.
"If I'd only listened..."
We are Icuras.
We want to push our limits
to enjoy our goal in life.
The people who tell us we won't succeed
convice us more.
If we push too hard,
work too much,
life will fall apart at our finger tips.
Right when we can nearly touch it.
We fall,
spiralling past our ambition,
away from our dream that was just in reach,
and sink right down to the emptiness of failure.
We're all a bit of Icuras.
