The Ice Princess
It's funny how one second I feel my heart stop beating because the cold is too much for it and the ice starts to grow like vines on an abandoned castle and its crystal pathways are so fragile yet seem so dangerous and in that moment my heart is weak and yet it is then when I feel most in control and untouchable.
And the next second your exhale is the warmth I needed but didn't want and my heart is melting gold that's burning every inch of my insides but they're already blackened from the things I've been through and it reminds me of who I am but I'm scared it'll burn me from the inside out and will bear holes in my skin -- holes acting like a looking glass to what's been going on -- and I can't have you know because then your heart will burn too. I won't have you burn for me.
For now I'll enjoy the warmth of your breath just enough to feel the ice crack and the droplets of water to fall.
