Icicle

The ice builds on

The walls of my heart,

Creeping through the night.

At the break of dawn,

I wake with a start,

To begin another day.

Another smiling face conceals

The loneliness of space.

A glacier moved into my soul that day,

Freezing it over for good.

No one listened, no one cared

Enough to push back

The slow-moving fiend,

That makes my body numb.

Fingers too cold to touch,

Lips turning blue.

Ice coursing through my veins,

Frozen from the heart.

Drumming retreats slowly,

Too cold to carry on.
