The Icy Curse

Snow

Silence

Falling from the sky

A cold and silent soldier

Peaceful yet vengeful

The snow falls atop the trees

Into the street

Down the stream

Blowing in the breeze

People freeze

Animals starve

But it's pretty..

Peaceful

Pure

No flake alike

Ruined upon touch

Each flake a dagger

Sharp, small, slicing

Savage

We hide in our homes

with the heat

and warm soup for dinner.

Once peaceful lands into icy tundra

As snow lies atop the trees

Whispering death

Frigid death

Freezing

Sun peaking through

Unable to save the victims of the snow

The cruel reign of the snow

The air

Frosty and dry

Depleting those nearby

The cold decent

Shadows creep
It takes and takes, and leaves despair.
An angel's gift, it turns to dust,
An icy curse, a fatal trust.

The unhoused forced to weep

living on the street

Starving

Cold

Alone

Victims of the snow

The icy curse
