An Idea I Can't Live Without

It's a shame that power has a negative connotation

Conquerers

Kings

Domination

All words synonymous to power

How about strength?

Love?

Inspiration?

We think that power is comes from cruelty

That someone has to lose in order for someone else to win

I've been taught the opposite

Power isn't taken

It is discovered

Like an old photograph in a dusty attic

We've had it buried away since forever

But only when we stumble across it

or actively search for it

does power emerge

It is something to draw upon

to motivate

to energize

and is something never stolen

In moments of insecurity and fear

I look for that photo buried in the attic

To remind myself of the times when being

powerful

isn't robbing someone else

it's discovering yourself
