Idenity

Who will I be?

Would a bird be able to see?

Will my life end up on glee?

There is love in the air, but I have none to spare.

I was born in Baltimore,

Where the Ravens play, and the cops shoot in broad day.

My story doesn’t start there though.

Does it start when I was 14 flipping pizza dough?

No.

It started when I first came to Indian Creek in 6th grade

The school was small, air was clean, and the walls were a pale color.

There wasn’t many who looked like me

For this could be who I destined to be.

A dark skin boy who had everything to learn

A friend who would do anything to not let the bridges burn.

Only to not know what he would turn into in return.

I had fun in Middle School

I had friends, good grades and a social life.

What was I missing?

My identity.

I was torn between acting my color or acting like my environment.

What if who we are in the moment depends on who are around us at that time.

I wish I would have realized this before I spent countless nights pass 12.

Looking for who I was, when that doesn’t matter

All that mattered, was who I was in the moment.

You can be many things

A baller with a big ring

Or a comedian with funny memes.

I am Devin, a guy who lives and loves in the moment.
