Identity
I close my eyes as I begin to breathe, taking in everything around me.
I take a step and falter in my wake, wondering about each move I make.
I shake it off and begin to walk, seeing how the world can be so small.
I wonder where I will go from here; where I’ll end is my constant fear.
I breathe in the cool night air, and locking and keeping my thoughts so fair.
I murmur my woes as they break the sky, dreams falling, though flying so high.
I contradict sometimes in my finest, speaking out loud, holding my defiance.
I am voicing a voice, a voice with a choice, where none can fall in this world so small.
I close, I take,
I shake, I wonder,
I breathe, I murmur,
I contradict, I am.
I fight for myself and those I love, where I can stand for those who are always shoved.
I falter sometimes when I am asleep, battling myself inside my blissful dreams.
I move around those who try to block my way, but I always turn back in heartbroken faith.
I dream within a dream, where nothing seems right. A war with a battle, a conflict with a fight.
I see things that I should never know, though that is human life - a world with a show.
I make my ambitions out of everything I am, even if my heart is one of the damned.
I walk with an ever-growing stride, where I am me and everything feels right.
I am voicing a voice, a voice with a choice, where none can fall in this world so small.
I fight, I falter,
I move, I dream,
I see, I make,
I walk, I am.
