Idle Smoke
Can you really believe the things you’ve seen?
The obscene things on the tv screen seem sincere and you’re lost.
You’re not asking to be understood.
You are silence in a pit of static,
Married to the sins of stop, start and smoke,
Wondering why if its enough, if you’re enough.
The fresh, funky foolery serves to remind them that you are the emblem.
Radiating as reminder, making space to set the path as your ambitions as a rider.
Although too distant in your thoughts, you choose to win.
And shine bright, and make me happy.
As key to lock, i look to you and admire that fire to resist them.
Strength that reinforces what love is and makes room to have growth fulfill it.
You are the missing piece to the constellation
Of admiration, liberation, black queen nation.
Ridiculous humor and gracious attitude, you shift with each whisper.
You keep your guard up and have an open heart to prove that you show up.
You are my art and you are enough.
Black and bold and royal and restful.
Ain’t nobody looking out for your better days better than you have or always will.
